The Olveston Wraparound Love (OWLS')

Breakfast Club Wrap Around Care Provision

The aim of The OWL’s breakfast Club provision is to provide high quality care and a healthy breakfast for children before the start of their school day.

Cost per session:

£6 per pupil per session  (£3 for the third child or pupil premium)

Ad hoc users - £8 per pupil per session (£4 for the third child or pupil premium)

Research into Breakfast Clubs has shown that:

  • They improve attendance at school
  • Children are more relaxed and ready to learn if they have eaten and had an enjoyable start to the day
  • They help to improve concentration and academic performance
  • They provide a healthy meal at the beginning of the day
  • They provide a safe, familiar, warm environment
  • They develop social skills and interaction
  • They provide continuity of care

Benefits for Parents

  • Meets the needs of the family by enabling them to return to full /part or shift work or training.
  • Reassurance that their children are safe and in school at the correct time.

 

Afterschool Wraparound Care Provision

The aim of The OWL’s after school provision is to provide high quality wrap around care and a healthy meal for children at the end of their school day.

Cost per session: £10 per session (£5 for the third child or pupil premium)

Ad hoc users- £12 per session (£6 for the third child or pupil premium)

Research into this provision has shown that:

  • They have a positive social and educational impact on children
  • They have a positive economic impact on families, with one third of parents
  • They have a positive impact on labour market participation
  • Out of school care also has a positive non-economic impact on families, including providing respite care, and crisis support during stressful episodes such as illness and bereavement

Benefits for Parents:

  • Reassurance that their children are safe and cared for in wrap around care in our school environment that they are familiar with.
  • Meets the needs of the family by enabling them to return to full /part or shift work or training.
  • Can be significantly cheaper than other forms of childcare
  • Are Ofsted-regulated, which means parents have peace of mind that their child is in a safe, protected environment.
  • Can instil a sense of continuity and security in a child, which is reinforced when school friends attend the club as well.
  • In some cases, can provide supervised help with homework. That means that it’s all done when your child returns home, helping parents to spend quality time with their children without those homework battles.
